Prepare Weaving Strips
Take yellow A4 size craft paper. Use a pencil and ruler to draw equidistant lines across the sheet.

Cut the stripes
Then, take your crafty scissors and cut the sheet into uniform strips following these lines.

Weave the Basket Base
Arrange your yellow strips and weave them tightly in a checkerboard pattern (horizontal and vertical) to create a square woven base.

Create the Basket Shape and Support
On the woven base, use a pencil to draw the traditional shape of the winnowing basket. Take a white sheet and cut it into the same shape.

Prepare the support
This white piece will give the woven piece solid support.

Assemble the Base
Cut the basket shape out from the yellow woven sheet. Stick the white paper on the back of the woven cutout using Fevicol MR. Now, cut a thin yellow strip to cover the edges.

Draw the Symbol
Stick the thin yellow strip on the border with Fevicol MR. Draw a festive symbol (like a swastika or a traditional motif) in the center of the woven area.

Paint the Symbol
Use Rangeela Tempera Pastel Colours to paint the symbol/motif you drew. Let the paint dry completely.

Final Touch
Your handmade woven Baishakhi decoration is complete!
