Words can shape how we feel, how we think, and how we see the world. In this learning engagement students will explore typography, the art of designing letters and phrases to express powerful messages. Using inspiring quotes and sayings, students will create framed artworks that bring their chosen words to life.

Steps to Create this Activity

1. Choose Your Phrase:

Students select a motivational, expressive, or empowering phrase that resonates with them.

2. Sketch Typography Layouts:

Students plan how their phrase will appear. Should some words be large, others small? Will they use cursive or block lettering? Vertical or curved placement? They experiment with typography styles and composition using pencil.

3. Add Colour and Water Effect:

Using YUDU Gel Crayons and 3-in-1 Colour Pencils, students bring their lettering to life by filling it with blended colours, patterns, textures, and even adding water to create a soft watercolour wash effect. In some cases students can also experiment with YUDU Poster Colours.

4. Exhibit the Typography Gallery:

Display the artworks. The result is a wall filled with positive, personal, and powerful messages, each one unique in style and meaning.
