Race for Clean Water

The United Nations has set Global Goals to help make the world a better place for everyone. One of these is Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. This goal is about making sure all people have clean water to drink, water bodies are kept healthy, and that we use water wisely so there is enough for people, plants and animals.

1. Give the Game a Title and Work in Groups

Work together as a class to come up with a fun, catchy title for your board game (for example, Race for Clean Water). This helps students connect with the theme before starting the design. Divide into groups of four. Each group will design and play on one game board.

2. Design the River Path

Use YUDU Gel Crayons to colour the background. With YUDU 3-in-1 Colour Pencils, draw a long, winding river across the page and divide it into 30–40 squares or spaces. Label the beginning: ‘Polluted River Start’. Label the end: ‘Goal Reached: Clean Water for All!’.

3. Add Action Spaces

Inside the boxes, use YUDU Brush Pens for clear outlines and then add simple illustrations and colour for good and bad water-related actions: Good Actions ‘Installed a water filter’ - move ahead 3 ‘Turned off tap while brushing teeth’ - roll again ‘Picked up rubbish near a stream’ - skip forward ‘Planted trees by a river’ - move ahead 2 Bad Actions ‘Polluted the lake with plastic’ - back to start ‘Left the tap running’ - skip a turn ‘Used too much water for one person’ - move back 2 ‘Cut down trees near the river’ - go back 3

4. Decorate the Game Board

Use YUDU Gel Crayons to add water animals, plants, raindrops, boats, students trees, and more. Apply cool colours (blue, green) for clean water sections and darker or muddy shades (brown, grey) for polluted areas. With a damp brush, gently blend over the crayon or pencil areas to create a soft watercolour effect, adding depth and texture to the artwork.

5. Play the Game

Use coins, buttons, or small paper pieces as game pieces. Roll one dice to move. Follow the action instructions in the boxes as you land on them. The first student to reach the Clean Water for all square wins.
