Prepare the Base

To make a Pookalam rangoli for Onam, let’s take the white disposable rangoli plate as your base.

Cut the flower base

Take a white coloured paper cup, press it, and draw equal-sized petals on it. Take scissors and cut them out to make them look like flowers.

Crumble the red paper

Crumple red kite paper into many small balls and set aside for the inside design.

Craft the elements

Cut paper cups into large and small petal shapes. Paint the cutouts and spare pasta with Rangeela Tempera Metallic Colours. Once dry, add a second metallic coat (like silver) for shine and let it dry.

Make the border

Take the crumpled yellow kite paper into many small balls. Assemble the Pookalam Design starting from the center of the rangoli plate.

Stick the elements

Arrange and stick the painted petals, flowers, and pasta in a concentric rangoli pattern. Add red crumpled kite paper balls at the center and yellow ones around them.

Final Look

Your vibrant, mixed media Pookalam Rangoli for Onam is complete!
