Our Helpful Hands Mural

Community helpers keep our world running! This project helps students understand the roles of people who help us (like doctors, bakers, teachers, police officers, farmers) and celebrate them through collaborative art. Inspired by Keith Haring’s energetic and colourful style, students will create their own “helping hands” figure and contribute to a class mural that shows how people organise our world together.

1. Who Helps Us?

Ask guiding questions such as: “Who are the people who help us every day?” List helpers on the board. Show examples of Keith Haring's art.

2. Draw Your Helper

On A3 paper, students draw a cartoon-style person with hands. Use simple outlines like Keith Haring's figures. Add an action pose.

3. Add Tools and Clothing with Gel Crayons

Use YUDU Gel Crayons to design helpers' clothing, hats, and tools.

4. Use Bright Colours and Patterns

Colour the figure in one bold colour. Fill the background with a contrasting bright colour. Add patterns.

5. Optional 3D Detail with Clay

Sculpt a small object using YUDU Magic Clay. Attach it securely to the drawing with Fevicol.

6. Build the Mural together

Mount all finished helpers on a large classroom mural. Use yarn or dotted lines to connect helpers. Add a bold title: "Together, We Help!"
