Light changes how we experience colour. We can observe and express these changes using structured grids and soft colour transitions, just as scientists use data to understand patterns in the natural world.

1. Explore Tanya Goel’s Work
Show examples of her grid paintings. Discuss how her work is like science, observing, recording, and organising what we see in the world.
2. Light and Colour Observation
Ask students guiding questions about how light affects colour at different times of day.
3. Draw a Grid
Use ruler and pencil to draw a simple grid (e.g., 5x5 squares). Each square will represent a different colour or mood of light.
4. Fill in the Grid – Dry to Wet Technique
In each square, colour with YUDU 3-in-1 Colour Pencils using different shades. Use warm colours for sunny or warm light, and cool colours for shady or evening tones.
5. Reflect and Share
Students write or share what they learned about colour and light, what inspired their grid, and how using water changed their colours.
