My Book, My Cover – Creative Book Cover Making Activity for Kids - Activity Single - FeviCreate
My Book, My Cover
A book cover is the first way an author shares their idea with the world. It gives clues about the story inside, through pictures, colour, and words. In this project, students will imagine a book of their own and create a front cover to express what it’s about and who it’s for. They will choose a topic, draw a main image, and add a creative title - all using basic drawing, colouring, and collage skills.

1. Look at Real Book Covers
Show 3-4 familiar picture book covers. Explain that illustrators use images and colours to invite readers into the story.
2. Plan Your Book
Prompt: "If you wrote your own book, what would it be about?" Encourage brainstorming of fun titles.
3. Design the Book Cover
Fold A4 paper in half to resemble a book. On the front cover, students draw a central image with vibrant colours and a blended background using YUDU Poster Colours.
4. Add the Title & Author Name
Students write the title in large, clear letters using YUDU Brush Pens. Below, add: "By [Student's Name]".
5. Share the Cover
Students form a circle or walk through a "Book Gallery." Each shares their book idea.
6. Display Idea
Create a Class Library Wall: Hang all covers together under the heading “Our Stories Matter.” Add blank paper “spines” beside them so students can later add summaries or “blurbs.”
