Lippan Art Bird Dangler

Make a Lippan-inspired bird dangler using cardboard, clay, small mirrors, acrylic paints, sequins, and jute string. Kids can shape and decorate bird cutouts in traditional Kutchi style and hang them as colourful wall or door art pieces full of folk charm.

Step –1

Procure the base - Take a corrugated sheet and draw two structures of birds and feathers. Keep a slit in the center of both the cutouts to interlock. Cut it using scissors.

Step –2

Paint the base - Take the Fevicryl Carnival Pack White Colour and paint the base of the corrugated sheet. Let it dry. Draw the line details using a pencil.

Step –3

Prepare the clay - Take Fevicryl Mouldit resin and hardener,and mix well to make the dough even. Use a rolling pin to evenly roll the clay across the slab, applying consistent pressure to achieve a uniform thickness. Stick the rolled clay on the line details of the bird and feather with Fevicol MR. Let it dry.

Step –4

Paint the bird - Take Fevicryl Carnival Pack Colours and paint the bird and its feathers. You can pick any colours like Teal blue and Chrome Yellow etc. Let it dry. Prick the holes in the feather and the body to tie the threads.

Step –5

Decorate the piece - Take the assorted mirrors and stick them to decorate the bord and its feathers using Fevicol MR. Stick the googly eyes using Fevicol MR. Let it dry. Take the bird and its feathers, interlock them inside the slits.

Step –6

Final look - Tie the threads and hand the dangler on the wall. Similarly, you can make another dangler as a pair and create a beautiful Bird Dangler for decoration.
