Learn How to Make a Ganesha Idol with Paper Mache & Coconut Shell

Make a Ganesha idol with a corrugated sheet, mache, and cut it into small pieces

Step - 01

To create a Ganesha Idol, take some corrugated sheets to prepare corrugated mâché. Cut them into tiny pieces.

In a bowl, add corrugated cut-out, soak in water, squeeze, and add Fevicol a+

Step - 02

Take a bowl, add corrugated cut-outs, and soak it in water for a day. Now squeeze out the cut-outs and add Fevicol A+

Mix and make a dough

Mix it well until it becomes like dough, as shown in the image.

Take 2 coconut shells to make the base structure for Ganesh idol.

Step - 04

To create the base structure of Ganesha, take two coconut shells, attach them to one another as shown in the image using a corrugated mache, and let it dry.

Use corrugated mache to make the trunk of Ganesh idol

Step - 05

Using corrugated mache, create the trunk of the Ganesha as shown in the image.

Give proper shape to lord Ganesh idol on coconut shell like adding Mukut,ears, legs, hands, and modak

Step - 06

Now place the structure onto the OHP sheet, and create other features of Ganesha I.e., mukut, ears, legs, hands, and modak with the help of your hands as shown in the image. Make sure features made are proportionate to each other and let it be semi-dry. Now take a paper straw and cut out two small pieces keeping either of the edges angular and insert it through the trunk creating a tusk as shown and let it dry.

Use rangeela tempera colors for details on Ganesha’s forehead, let it dry, handmade Ganesha idol is ready

Step - 07

Once dried completely, peel the structure off from the OHP sheet as shown. Using Rangeela Tempera Colours paint the details onto Ganesha’s forehead with the help of fine art brushes as shown and let it dry. Your handmade Ganesha Idol is ready!
