Step - 01

To create a Kathakali figurine, you will need a corrugated square cut-out measuring 5 cm, a tennis ball, a smiley ball cut into half, barbeque stick, two paper straw, two corrugated strips with 1 cm width each.

Step - 02

To cover the kathakali skirt, take Rangeela Creative Clay white and roll it in a circular shape with a rolling pin.

Step - 03

Using Fevicol A+, cover the smiley ball using clay as shown.

Step - 04

To create legs, cut out straw pieces measuring it into 3” approximately. Take a corrugated strips and twirl it around the straw as shown and stick it using Fevicol A+.

Step - 05

With a paper cutter, poke two holes in the centre as shown and insert a straw through it.

Step - 06

Stick the structure onto the corrugated square using Fevicol A+ and let it dry.

Step - 07

Insert a barbeque stick through the structure in the centre measuring 4” approximately.

Step - 08

To create kathakali torso, take newspaper and roll it into a coil measuring 3” in height approximately. Referring to the image, create hands with a paper straw and stick it using Fevicol A+.

Step - 09

Insert the torso through a barbeque stick and stick it using Fevicol A+.

Step - 10

To create the head structure, take a tennis ball and poke a hole in the centre as shown.

Step - 11

Using Fevicol A+, stick the tennis ball over the barbeque stick as shown. Using Rangeela Tempera Colour green, roll it into an even slab with a rolling pin and cover the torso using Fevicol A+ as shown in the image.

Step - 12

Similarly, using the same method, cover the tennis ball and create features and other elements i.e., head band, eyes and skirt frills. To create bangles, take any coloured clay of your choice, roll it into a coil and stick it onto the hands as shown.

Step - 13

Using Rangeela Creative Clay, create the rest of the features as shown in the image and stick it using Fevicol A+.

Step - 14

Using Rangeela Creative Clay, create a crown and necklace as shown and stick it using Fevicol A+.

Step - 15

Referring to the image, add detailing to the rest of the elements i.e., crown, earrings, necklace, skirt and stole using Rangeela Creative Clay and stick it. Your handmade figurine is ready!
