Paper Mache Kari Qalamdan Craft

Steps to Create this Activity

Step - 01

To create a Kari Qalamdan Trinket, create tissue paper mâché. Take a bowl, add pieces of some tissue papers in it, some water and Fevicol A+. Mix it well until it becomes like dough. Make sure tissue paper mâché is fine enough.

Step - 02

Take any plastic container available. Now put some moisturizer on the container, make sure to spread it evenly. Now apply a layer of tissue paper mâché, tap uniformly with the help of your hands as shown in the image.Using Fevicol A+, apply a layer over it with Fine Art brushes and let it dry.

Step - 03

Once dried, peel it off. Similarly following the same procedure create a structure of lid and lid holder proportionate to the trinket made shown in the image.

Step - 04

Using Fevicryl Acrylic Colour of your choice, paint the elements i.e., bowl, lid and lid holder using Fine Art brushes and let it dry.

Step - 05

Using Fevicryl Acrylic Colour of your choice, create simplified Kari Qalamdan pattern over the lid with the help of Fine Art brushes and let it dry. You can create a floral pattern of your choice or can refer to image.

Step - 06

Similarly, create patterns onto the trinket or can give borders as shown.

Step - 07

Using Fevicol A+, stick the lid holder onto the lid. Your handmade Kari Qalamdan Trinket is ready!
