Geometric Patterns Diya Toran

Let’s light up your math skills! In this project, we create a festive toran (door hanging) using diyas as a canvas to explore geometric shapes. By drawing patterns like triangles, squares, and parallel lines on each diya, students can learn geometry in a colourful, hands-on way.

Trace the Basic Shapes

Take your thick white paper and draw several large circles and oval shapes using a pencil. You can use a compass or trace around household objects like bowls to keep your shapes perfect.

Cut and Create Diya Bases

Cut out all the circles and ovals with your scissors.

Decorate with Geometry

To make the bases for your diyas, fold each circle in half and cut along the fold line. This will give you two semi-circle bases for every circle you cut!

Assemble the Diyas

Decorate each diya base with YUDU Gel Crayons using colourful geometrical patterns. Stick the oval flames with Fevicol Glue Drops and punch a small hole at the top.

String Your Toran

Thread your cobbler cord through the holes in the flames, spacing the diyas out evenly. Your Geometry Diya Toran is ready to hang, proving that math can be truly illuminating!
