DIY Waste Segregation Chart
A creative and educational craft project that teaches children the importance of waste segregation. By creating their own miniature waste sorting station, they learn to identify and categorize different types of waste, including paper, plastic, glass, and organic materials. This hands-on activity promotes recycling and environmental awareness in a fun and interactive way.

Create the Base
Cut a rectangular piece from a corrugated sheet and paint it evenly with a cream coloured Rangeela Tempera Pastel Colour. Let it dry completely, then use a pencil to divide the board into four sections and label them as Paper, Plastic, Glass, and Organic. In each section, draw matching items such as vegetables for Organic, bottles for Plastic, a book and cardboard for Paper, and glasses for Glass.
Assemble the Sorting Bins
Paint the four half-cups in four different primary colours and allow the base colours to dry completely. Once dry, add details using white paint. Then, using Fevicol MR, stick the waste item cutouts onto the top of each matching coloured cup and let everything dry properly.

Prepare the Cups
Take four disposable paper cups and cut each one in half using scissors.

Let it dry completely, then use a pencil to divide the board into four sections and label them as Paper, Plastic, Glass, and Organic. In each section, draw matching items such as vegetables for Organic, bottles for Plastic, a book and cardboard for Paper, and glasses for Glass.

Make the Waste Items
On plain white paper, draw different objects such as bottles, glasses, vegetables, and a cardboard box. Paint these drawings using Rangeela Tempera or Pastel Colours, and once the paint has dried completely, carefully cut out each object.

Decorate the Bins
Take one of the cut disposable cups and paint it green using Rangeela Tempera Pastel Colours. You can add a white recycled symbol on top of the base colour for detail, then let it dry completely.

Assemble the Sorting Bins
Paint the four half-cups in four different primary colours and allow the base colours to dry completely. Once dry, add details using white paint. Then, using Fevicol MR, stick the waste item cutouts onto the top of each matching coloured cup and let everything dry properly.

Final Assembly
Stick each of the four decorated cups onto their respective sections on the corrugated sheet. You can then add the labels “Reduce,” “Reuse,” and “Recycle” to complete the layout. Your waste segregation craft is now finished and ready to display.
