DIY Recycled Holi Decor

Create this mixed media article using recycled products and celebrate the festival of Holi ! We have used Bottles, lids, and old products making this a great project to promote an eco friendly Holi celebration!

Make the Re-used Decor

Make the Dhol, the used Fevicol Bottle for Pichkari, the small lids from the 3 D Outliners bottle to make the glasses of thandai, the lids of 100ml bottles for the bowls of colours.

Create the Clay

Cover the lids and the bottles with Mouldit. Take Mouldit resin base and hardener, mix it thoroughly to make even dough.

Roll the Clay

Take the Clay ball, roll it to make the medium thin slab with rolling pin.

Paper Mache and Creating

Mark and cut the slab to cover the lids and the bottles using Fabric Glue for sticking. Let it dry. Take the tissue paper and make the mountain of the pigment or the colour powder in the lid by sticking it using Fabric Glue.

Paint the Designs

Paint the base coat of Acrylic Colour White 27. Let it dry.

Add More Details

Take the cobbler thread and the wooden beads to stick on the Dhol to depict the leather cord around the dhol using Fabric Glue. Paint the Holi motifs using Acrylic Colours and let it dry completely.

Finish your article

Take the wooden plank /block measuring approximately 4” x 8” in size. Paint the block with pastel shade of pink using Acrylic Colours. Let it dry. Stick the Holi motifs on the Block aesthetically with Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
