DIY Navratri Bottle Dolls

Steps to Create this Activity

Preparing the Clay Head

Mix equal parts of Fevicryl Mouldit resin and hardener to make a smooth dough. Roll a portion into a round ball on an OHP sheet. Sprinkle a little talcum powder so it does not stick. This ball will be the head of your first figure.

Attaching the Figure Heads

Make a second clay ball for the other figure. Take the two empty plastic bottles you brought from home. Press one clay ball firmly onto the top rim of each bottle. Now, both of your figures have their heads ready!

Creating Clay Slabs and Coils

Take some more mixed clay dough. Roll it out flat on the OHP sheet to make a thin, even slab. Next, roll out two long, uniform clay coils (ropes) of the same thickness.

Sculpting the Turban and Veil

Apply a little Fevicol MR onto the clay heads. Wrap the long clay coils around the male figure's head to build a traditional turban. Gently drape the flat clay slab over the female figure’s head and shoulders to create a traditional veil.

Painting Festive Attire

Paint the bottles and clay structures with a white base coat first so your final choices stand out beautifully. Use thin, fine art brushes to paint beautiful details on their clothes, and add traditional jewelry with Fevicryl Carnival Pack.
