Procure the base

Step - 01

Let create a lantern for Diwali from coloured chart paper. Assemble the chart paper. Refer to the image.

Cut the strips

Step - 02

Take the yellow chart paper and cut it in a rectangular shape. Take the chart paper and draw a rectangle on it using a pencil and a scale. Draw vertical lines at an equal distance as strips on paper. Take the paper cutter and cut them along the lines carefully. Refer to the image.

Stick and fold

Step - 03

Fold the yellow chart paper in a full circle vertically and stick the ends using a Fevicol MR. Stick one circular end of the red chart paper to the circular base of the yellow chart paper with Fevicol MR. Fold another circular end inwards and stick it on the other end by using Fevicol MR. Let it dry. Refer to the image.

Finishing touch & final look

Step - 04

Take the chart paper and cut it into thinner stripes to make the tassels. Take the cobbler thread and pass it upwards from the center of the yellow folded sheet and attach 2-4 cobbler threads on the top side to hand the lantern. Let it dry. Refer to the image. This way, you can make a lantern for any festive decoration with just simple things at home.
