Diya Dangler for Diwali

We will transform a simple corrugated sheet into a beautifully detailed arched frame, complete with a radiant paper diya, shimmering embellishments, and custom-made tassels. This project is all about adding a touch of traditional charm with a creative twist to your home decor.

Gather Your Creative Tools

Step - 01

First things first, get all your wonderful crafting materials ready. You will need a corrugated sheet, pencil, scissors, earbuds, foam sheets, chart paper, mirrors, stones, and gold chord. Having everything organized makes crafting so much easier.

Outline Your Designs

Step - 02

Draw the arched wall hanging design on the corrugated sheet. On coloured chart paper and foam sheets, sketch shapes for your diya, flame, flowers, and decorative elements.

Cut Out Your Shapes

Step - 03

Carefully use your scissors to cut out all the designs you just sketched. Take your time for neat edges.

Pick the earbuds

Step - 04

Take your earbuds and cut them into smaller and longer pieces to create an ascending pattern.

Paint the earbuds

Step - 05

Paint the earbud sticks with Fevicryl Acrylic Pearl Metallic Gold and the cotton tips with teal blue. Let them dry. Paint your diya shape with Fevicryl Acrylic Pink 18, and once dry, stick small golden stone embellishments along its borders using Fevicol MR.

Assemble the cutouts

Step - 06

Assemble all the cutouts and painted earbuds. Make three charming tassels by cutting fringes on yellow chart paper strips.

Assemble the Diya and Decorative Flowers

Step - 07

Stick the yellow and orange cutouts with Fevicol MR onto your painted diya to form the flame. Stick your beautifully painted earbuds vertically onto the diya's body, from smaller to larger, for a unique textured design. Finally, stick your pink 3D flowers (with buttons) onto the golden chords with tassels.

Paint your base

Step - 08

Mix Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Mauve 15 and Fevicryl Acrylic Neon Pink 018 for a rich purple filling the inner sections. Use Teal Blue for the arches and other Fevicryl Acrylic Colours for intricate patterns and designs. Let it dry.

Add Sparkle and Shine

Step - 09

To add festive sparkle, stick mirror foils and stone embellishments onto the painted frame wherever you like. Use Fevicryl Acrylic Pearl Metallic Gold to paint fine borders around the designs and embellishments with Fevicol MR.

Final Look

Step - 10

Stick the diya onto the bottom-center of your painted wall hanging frame with Fevicol MR. Finally, attach a piece of gold chord to the top of the wall hanging to create a loop for easy hanging. Your stunning Festive Diya Wall Hanging is now complete.
