Deep Sea Discovery

The ocean is a rich and interconnected ecosystem, full of living creatures (fish, turtles, coral, crabs) and non-living elements (rocks, sand, water) that all work together in balance. This learning engagement helps pupils explore how ecosystems function and why each part is important. Through creating an ocean diorama with clay, pasta, and natural materials, students will consider how animals survive underwater, what they need, and how humans can help protect marine life.

Talk & Think

Ask guiding questions about animals that live in the ocean. As a class, make a list of ocean animals and coral types students may want to include in their diorama.

Create the Background

Use blue YUDU Poster Colours mixed with water and a brush to create a watercolour ocean effect. Allow the box to dry fully before continuing.

Build the Habitat

Corals & Seaweed: Glue different pasta shapes onto small rocks with Fevicol. Ocean Animals: Sculpt turtles, fish, jellyfish, or crabs using YUDU Magic Clay. Ocean Floor: Add real rocks and shells to build texture. Floating Fish: Hang clay or paper fish with thread from the top of the box.

Reflect & Share

Hold a circle time or gallery walk and ask guiding questions.
