Christmas Wreath

This project teaches you a cool trick called pleating, which is folding paper like a fan to make it look like real leaves! Sticking the leaves all around the circle helps you learn about making a pattern that stays the same (symmetry). You also learn how to make 3D shapes (like the bell) and arrange everything perfectly on the circle.

Create the Wreath Base

Take a corrugated sheet, and draw a circle on it. Then, draw a slightly smaller circle to make the base of the wreath. Cut a felt sheet of the same size as the base we created, and stick it on the corrugated sheet using Fevicol MR.

Make the Pleated Leaves

Take the green chart paper and cut it into leaf shapes. Fan-fold each leaf strip in a tight zig-zag manner (pleating) to give it a realistic leaf texture and effect. Similarly, create several leaves to cover the circular wreath.

Build Santa's Face

Cut the shapes for Santa's face (light cream paper) and his red cap (red paper). Use white quilling strips to make small circular shapes and stick multiple of them as his moustache/beard. Stick a red pom-pom for his nose and use a black pen to draw his eyes.

Craft Stars and Flowers

Draw and cut out star shapes from gold paper and red paper. Cut out a flower shape from gold paper. Cut a green circular shape from green paper. Stick the gold flower onto the green circle, and place a red ornamental stone in the center.

Make the 3D Bell

Cut a conical shape from gold paper and stick it at the bottom/center of the bell. Cut a long yellow strip and stick it to the top for the bell's hanging loop.

Decorate the Bell and Assemble

Take a red ribbon and tie a bow. Using Fevicol MR, stick a strip of green corrugated sheet on the centre of the bow, to add a brighter effect! Now, take the wreath base and stick the pleated leaves all around the ring using Fevicol MR to cover the base.

The Final Assembly

Using Fevicol MR, stick all the elements onto the leafy wreath: place the Santa face at the bottom, arrange the stars, flowers, and the bell around the ring.
