Build - A - Town

Communities need systems to work smoothly - such as shops to buy food, rules to keep people safe, and jobs that help everyone. In this learning engagement students will work together to design and build a town, learning how different roles, systems, and services keep a society organised.

1. Introductory Discussion

Have a discussion in class about what every town or city needs to work well. Together, create a class list of essentials.

2. Plan Your Town

Divide the class into small groups. Each group will choose a town name, decide what places they want to include and draw a rough town map on paper. Assign group roles.

3. Construct Structures for the town

Use cardboard boxes or corrugated sheet to build larger buildings such as hospitals, schools, or supermarkets. Cut out flat building shapes for smaller or simpler structures.

4. Add Colour on buildings

Paint the cardboard structures with YUDU Poster Colours. Encourage students to choose bold colours to make their buildings stand out.

5. Add Ornaments

Use YUDU Magic Clay to create decorative elements such as police station symbol, hospital signage and other shop details. Attach the clay elements to the painted cardboard buildings once dry.

6. Final Details with Brush Pens

Use YUDU Brush Pens to draw windows, doors, and signs on the buildings.

7. Town Map

On a large base sheet, draw with YUDU Poster Colours a few roads, rivers, parks, public spaces. Use Fevicol to place on the clay models and buildings in the correct locations.
